Personal.
I am a Canadian citizen, born and raised in
Ontario. In 2002 I married Jennifer,
and we have three children: William, Samuel and Juniper.
I consider myself a traditional Christian and we are members of the
Anglican Church, though we have attended a wide variety of other
denominations. Outside of academics, I
am an award-winning trumpet player and have toured around North America with
various musical groups. I am nearly
certified as a carpenter, and enjoy fine woodworking and furniture making. Before becoming a father, I often went
running, cycling and canoeing.

Current
Research.
The Well Primed Scribe. This research, into the occurrence of the
priming effect in the work of early scribes and the class of variants created
thereby, is currently underway and will be presented at the 2013 annual meeting
of the Society of Biblical Literature.
James 1:17.
This research, on a possible primitive corruption in the text of James
1:17, was presented at the annual meeting of the Canadian Society of Biblical
Studies in 2012, and is currently being revised for submission for publication.
Title Creep.
This research, on the scribal phenomenon of divine title expansion, has
been presented at the meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature in
2011. The results were partially
published in No Longer Written (2013), and the
complete study is currently being prepared for submission for publication.
The Religious Side of Nearly Everything. This
is a wide ranging course examining a variety of issues of science, art,
philosophy and popular culture from a theological perspective. Prepared initially for the general studies
department of a local community college, the course material is under continual
development.
