I was raised in Winona, Ontario, Canada. After undergraduate studies in the prairies and graduate work in the Boston area, I married Jennifer and we moved to Muskoka. While pursuing doctoral work in Toronto, I worked as a carpenter - building houses on Georgian Bay. These days Jennifer works as a Social Worker and I run a custom furniture and cabinetry shop, while continuing to teach part-time and research independently. We have three children, William, Samuel and Juniper, along with Flannery the Old English Sheepdog.
